Part 7 Benefits

As soon as a car accident occurs, injured people are entitled to no-fault rehabilitation benefits from ICBC under Part 7 of the regulations of the BC Insurance (Vehicle) Act.

This means that regardless of who is at fault, people injured in a collision can claim rehabilitation benefits from ICBC for such things as necessary medical expenses, wage loss, homemaking services and necessary transportation.

The purpose of these benefits is to provide some early reimbursement for the costs incurred due to the collision and to fund certain rehabilitation costs. The benefits are limited by the terms of the statute.

Part 7 benefits are also secondary to any other funding source available to the injured person, such as long-term disability benefits, or medical benefits available through an injured person’s employer.
